Decorative galvanic treatments

Our projects

Doratura Manerbiese operates in the “decorative” sector by carrying out galvanic treatments that affect the aesthetic appearance of metal components.

We specialize in gold plating, silver plating and copper plating treatments on metals such as: iron and its alloys, copper and its alloys, tin and its alloys and stainless steel.

Generally, the processing of the article begins with a preliminary cleaning of the workpiece and an alkaline degreasing that serves to achieve the removal of grease and oils from the surface of the workpieces, the process involves washing systems with water-based products followed by polishing with nickel. To ensure greater durability to abrasion, handling and atmosphere and to avoid the occurrence of staining usually the surface is coated with an intermediate layer of nickel before and after copper plating and then proceeds with finishing to achieve according to the customer’s request: gold plating, silver plating in its variants of polished, satin or antiqued and copper plating.

Gold plating is widely used for the purpose of ennobling ornamental objects for which generally thin but sufficiently protective coatings are used, imparting special coloring to surfaces. Gold the most ductile of metals, can be made into leaves or very thin wires, but is also very resistant to corrosion.

-Decorative galvanic silvering is performed on various metals to achieve purely aesthetic finishes.

We carry out matte-satin and polished silver plating. The former, once it comes out of the silver-plating baths requires an additional finishing operation to give it a shiny or matte-satin appearance. Polished silvering produces directly polished deposits.

Generally, the operating cycle for decorative silvering of objects made of copper and its alloys, or in alloys of tin, zinc, etc., involves:

  1. cleaning
  2. degreasing
  3. washing
  4. pre-silvering
  5. silvering
  6. washing
  7. drying and finishing

Nickel plating is one of the most widely used techniques in electroplating treatments both for the appearance it gives to objects, but especially for their protective value and hardness, which can vary depending on the bath adopted.

The various types of nickel plating are distinguished by the thickness of the coating, if thinner it will provide a decorative and corrosion-resistant final layer, if thicker it will provide greater resistance to abrasion.
