Nickel plating is one of the most widely used techniques in electroplating treatments both for the appearance it gives to objects, but above all for its protective value and its hardness which can vary depending on the bath used.
The various types of nickel plating are distinguished according to the thickness of the coating, if thinner it will guarantee a decorative and corrosion-resistant final layer, if thicker it will guarantee greater resistance to abrasion. Generally, to obtain the most compact coatings on ferrous material in order to protect it in the best way from corrosion, it is recommended to use a double layer of copper-nickel.
We are able to achieve black nickel plating (also called Osiris) through electrodeposition of black nickel deposits. This type of nickel plating is mainly decorative and we can realise it on copper, nickel, brass and zinc.
